I am finally the owner of a copy of The Sartorialist the book! I was so excited when I saw it in Borders on the weekend. It is amazing how fashion lovers and non lovers alike enjoy this book which will no doubt be a historical reference of fashion culture for years to come.
It was exciting to see Australia editors featured - Kate Lanpher, Vanessa Coyle, Christine Centenera, Michelle Jank and Yasmin Sewell. Keep it coming girls and keep snapping Scott!

Licorice high
Josh Goot got all trippy this week displaying psychedelic colour and illusionary prints at London Fashion Week. I'm not sure what the inspiration for the collection was but it reminds me of high times and licorice all sorts. The prints play on shape and change the body by drawing the eye away from the normal figure lines.
Goot's collection looks to a colourful summer to come. If you love colour but are unsure about wearing it, introduce it in accessories. Colour lifts the mood and makes for a playful day. If you aren't afraid to wear colour be careful not to go too far. Pair your Josh Goot coloured tank dress with mushroom or tan coloured heels, you don't look like a Pro Heart or Ken Done painting!!

Crochet for Cate Blanket I mean Blanchett
What a storm in a tea cup Cate Blanket I mean Blanchett has created by wearing this one off creation by Romance Was Born. The press are in a tizz over her appearance at the opening of the Screen Worlds at ACMI in Melbourne yesterday in Shock Horror a crocheted dress that looks like your grandmother's favourite throw or her much loved tea cosy. The dress, part of the Romance Was Born's much lauded Spring Summer 2009-2010 collection, was reported to have been crocheted by Anna Plunckett's mother. Anna is one half of the Romance Was Born design duo, the other being Luke Sales.
The Herald's fashion commentator Melissa Hoyer was unimpressed but Adelaide Now reported that "Project Runway Australia mentor Henry Roth gave Blanchett a "gold star" for being imaginative and different". I too give Blanchett the thumbs up! Of course there are more beautiful dresses out there but Blanchett was having fun with it and I love that. Cate is a champion of the arts and this is just another example of her getting behind her creative pals.
It will no doubt be debated whether crochet is suitable for the red carpet but this particular number at least matched it!

BACKSTAGE Alexander Wang AKA "Woolly Wang"
Further to my Tuesday blog post regarding the latest collaboration between Alexander Wang and Australian Wool Innovation (owner of the world renowned Woolmark brand) I came across these backstage photos from show and just had to share. Crooks
Last night I attended the launch of the book Crooks Like Us by Sydney author Peter Doyle at Sydney's Justice and Police Museum. The book launch coincides with the exhibition of 1920s police "special photographs" many of which were taken in and around Darlinghurst and Surry Hills, Sydney.
Crooks Like Us features black and white photographs taken by Sydney police during the 1920s of "individuals they thought were, or were likely to become, professional criminals". The images were unearthed from the museum’s Forensic Photography Archive by author Doyle while he undertook research at the archive.
The images are haunting, touching and very intriguing and are accompanied by the stories of the photographs subjects carefully researched by Doyle. The book which was published by the Historic Houses Trust of New South Wales is a follow up to Doyle's City of Shadows: Sydney police photographs 1912-1948 which also features dark yet fascinating police photographs of Sydney crime scenes, criminals and their victims.
